some one please help me. i cant install black box as default on win vista. is this possible? if so please tell me how. install.bat isnt doing it. it says: Installiation unsuccessful! Unable to set Boot Option Registry key.

Seven30: Blackbox is an alternative shell for Windows or a window manager for Linux, the styles (themes) being interchangeable between the two platforms, something unique in computing. I suggest u read my tutorials:

A New Blackbox for Windows mod

We hail yet another Blackbox for Windows clone/build/branch – must be the 8th or 9th so far. Built by unkamunka, BB4Win Mod has a new bbcore philosophy and some new interesting features, some of them in the eye candy department, since it boasts no less than 12 new style syntax options: splitvertical, splithorizontal mirrorhorizontal mirrorvertical wavehorizontal wavevertical blockhorizontal blockvertical curvedown curveover wavedown and waveover – though at least two of them (splitvertical and mirrorhorizontal) we have already seen in noccy/elite force builds.
More specifically, this version (BB4Win Mod 1.18) includes:
• Enabled 12 multi-colour gradients
• Updated style parsing for ShadowColor (all syntaxes)
• Upgraded image rendering (including 24-bit & 32-bit colour options)
• Processes menu - including Kill menu (credits to Alex3D & nocd5)
• Settings Menu access to edit all local plugin.rcs & submenus
• Settings menu rationalised: merger of "Blackbox menu" with Configuration menu
• Alpha values now configurable on a 1-8 scale
• Expanded syntax for frame rendering
• Updated ShellFolders list to Vista
• Styling option: Menu.Title.FontHeight <2 removes titles
• Styling option: Enabled wildcard parsing for textures
• Menu Separators styling set by bevelling in Styles - option for none
• $UserAppData$ & RunOnceEx support reinstated
• Removed default desktop clicks
• Less frequently changed settings moved from extensions.rc to blackbox.rc
• Bugfixes & minor tweaks

New Build of BBLeanMod

Nocd5 released yet another build of his modified BBLean, bbLean mod 080531. This one includes support for vertical split gradients, recent item option on menus, and, for the first time in Blackbox, outlined text - which looks really nice. Get it from [link]

Utbox Build 1.5

Utbox is in its fifth (or so) reincarnation, with build 1.5 recently released. New items include:
• usetools control panel a.k.a. "utp" ("alt+win+c" or "main menu>>blackbox>>toggle utp").
• added bbleanskinmod plugin ("utp>>style tab>>toggle bbleanskin"). disabled by default.
• added bbcalendar (click on mainbar clocks).
• added bbpager ("win+w"). MSVC7 runtime dlls required.
• info screen. something like screensaver ("win+h" or "main menu >> blackbox >> toggle info").
• new styles - airlines, mojo and lesya.
• enabled workspaces. experimental.
• renewed icons.
• fixed bug, when some icons on taskbar get shrunk.

BBLeanBar Revisited

Unkamunka did it again, with a new BBLeanBar build. This one he calls BBLeanBar 1.20 and introduces many goodies, including:
• buttons made bi-directional (& differentiation increased)
• all (bar two) hard-coded mouse-clicks made configurable defaults
• available range of mouse-clicks expanded (code also streamlined)
• menu separators - backwards compatible (& buttonPressed style re)introduced
• locking of workspace edges made fully optional
• RC file syntax simplified & Bro@ms menu introduced
• bb icon (& name of bb version) added to WindowLabel
• non-functioning compatibility code removed & other tweaks
Plus, the new BBLeanBar uses menu bullets in the place of old-fashioned arrows. Get it from [link]

A New BBLeanSkin Mod by Unkamunka

Unkamunka presented another of his BBLeanSkin mods. Changes in this build:
• 4 new titlebar clicks:
o MaxHeight
o MaxWidth
o MoveRight (both application and OS sensitive)
o MoveLeft (both application and OS sensitive)
• expanded & enhanced gradient parsing
• bugfixes re Lower & re style-based FontShadows for bbLean family
